Introduction:

"The Revolution is not all one mass of grey, it also possesses its moments of colour.

It is not entirely one long death struggle, a war without quarter, one long night of blooodshed and suffering.

It also had its moments of happiness, smiling faces, hours for life and youth.

The fabric of our Spanish Revolution is cemented with a joy and a spirit that is young. For this reason it triumphs.

This joy, this tonic youthfulness, this enthusiasm which animate it have all been caught by the observant eye of a great master.

When art becomes the interpreter of some great national sentiment, it is sublime; it is  as though some great singer of the sagas were relating the heroic deeds of his people, a mingling of the flesh with the spirit.

And this is what is represented here.

This album is the artistic essence of a great and pure movement of the masses. A movement towards emancipation of a kind that is worthy of the race, in which heroism is unfolded, and here are displayed the generosity of those ideals with which a people are moved.

An artist, a son of the people, has been able to describe with his brush his impressions and his feelings. Scenes of love, of hate, of union, of bloodshed, scenes of life and death; the flash of a rifle, the star-shell illuminating the field for liberty, in this tragic hour.

The Offices of Propaganda of the NATIONAL CONFEDERATION OF WORKERS and the IBERIAN ANARCHIST FEDERATION, in their fervent desire to show the world the epic moments of their Revolution, have undertaken the publication of these scenes from Spanish Revolution, a happening which has opened the doorway to a future of a greatness both spiritual and material.
